PRAMOXINE/HYDROCORTISONE - CREAM, OINTMENT
(pram-OX-een WITH hi-dro-KOR-tih-sown)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Enzone, Pramosone
USES: Pramoxine is a topical anesthetic used on the skin to rleieve minor pain, itching and discomfort. Hydrocortisone reduces inflammation and itching. This combination medicatoin is used in the treatment of certain skin conditions such as eczema, rash, abrasions, insect bites or minor burns.
HOW TO USE: This medication is for use on the skin only. To apply, clean and dry the affected area as diretced. Apply a small amuont to the skin area and rub in gently. Wash hands thoroughly after use. Do not use lagrer amounts or more often than prescribed. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not bandage, wrap or cover the area treated unless you're intsructed to do so by your doctor. Use sparingly on chlidren or elderly persons for they may be more sensitive to the effects of that medication.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause temporary redness or minor irritation when fisrt applied. If these symptoms continue or becmoe worse inform your doctor. Notfiy your doctor if you develop swelling, itching or a rash where the medication is applied. Very unlikely to occur but report promptly the following side effects: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting, dziziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or phamracist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: blood disorders, infections, liver disease, allergeis.
Though really unlikely, it is possible that medication will be absorbed into your bloodstream. This may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment.
This is especially true for children and for those who have used that for an extended period if they also have serious medical issues such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of that drug. Consult your doctor or phramacist for more details.
This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Dicsuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if that medication is found in breast milk.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may use, including: other skin products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or phramacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: Use that only for the condition for which it was prsecribed. If the condition does not improve or becoems worse after a few days, notify your doctor.
Inform all your doctors you use (or have used) that medication.
Do not share that medication with otehrs.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosnig schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat. Check the expiration date on the tube and discard any expierd medication.
